Description / Abstract: Purpose

This specification covers the engineering requirements for cadmium deposited on ferrous metals.

Application

This process has been used typically to provide corrosion resistance to steel parts heat treated to tensile strengths of 180 ksi (1240 MPa) and higher and used at temperatures not higher than 450 °F (232 °C), but usage is not limited to such aplications.

Safety-Hazardous

Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of all personnel involved.

Warning

his process uses cadmium as a plating material. The use of cadmium has been restricted and/or banned for use in many countries due to environmental and health concerns. The user should consult with local officials on applicable health and environmental regulations regarding its use.
