Description / Abstract:
The self sealing couplings covered by this specification are
intended for use in aircraft hydraulic systems as covered by
Specification MIL-H-5440 and are used in installations where
frequent uncoupling of a hydraulic line is required. Couplings
covered by this specification will not be used for ground test
stand connections, when separate ground test convenient means of
uncoupling the line, without necessitating drainage of the system
and without resulting in any undue leakage of fluid. See AIR 1047
for guide to selection. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring
activity, self sealing couplings should not be used with any
hydraulic fluid other than that conforming to specification
MIL-H-5606, or MIL-H-83282.
