Description / Abstract: The materials covered by this specification are intended for use in the fabrication of components, where lightweight and rigidity are required. The energy to propogate a crack in this material is relatively low. Therefore, it is important that special precautions be taken in design to avoid severe stress raisers or other conditions that might promote localized cracking during normal service, or during occasional overloading.
