Form
This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of die forgings, hand forgings, forge rings, rolled rings, and stock for forging or rings.
Application
These products have been used typically for parts in structural machined parts but usage is not limited to such applications.
This material may be welded in the T6 condition but properties are improved by heat treatment after welding.
Certain design and fabricating procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
